Accutron Introduces New Spaceview Evolution Timepieces Powered by Electrostatic Energy

(PRESS RELEASE) NEW YORK — Accutron builds on the success of the brand’s groundbreaking electrostatic movement with the introduction of a new Spaceview Evolution timepiece collection. The Accutron Manufacture movement powered by electrostatic energy is a historical advancement in timekeeping and the first of its kind.

The new Spaceview Evolution models are a true design evolution of the original Accutron Spaceview 2020. While utilizing the same iconic and distinctive case of the Spaceview 2020, the new Spaceview Evolution features an updated orientation of the movement by 30 degrees to give the watches an entirely new look – the turbines are shifted, and the crown is positioned at two o’clock. New bridgework detail is also incorporated with fine knurled finishing along with blue and black contrast screws for a pop of color.

Introducing a new generation of luxury timepieces, two styles of the Spaceview Evolution are available. Both watches feature a 43.5mm polished stainless-steel case with domed double box sapphire crystal and water resistance to 50m. The first style boasts a smoke grey open-work dial with metal outer ring, silver-tone hour and minute hands with Super-LumiNova center and silver-tone second hand, finished on a matte black genuine American alligator strap. The second style features a smoke grey and silver-tone open-work dial with metal outer ring, metallic blue hour and minute hands with Super-LumiNova center and silver-tone second hand, finished on a shiny blue genuine American alligator strap. Each timepiece is priced at $3,950.

The new Spaceview Evolution is powered by Accutron’s proprietary movement powered by electrostatic energy, created by twin turbines that rotate as a result of human motion at incredible speeds between two electrodes affixed to the movement. The energy, stored in an accumulator, powers two motors; a world’s first electrostatic motor fueling the fluid second hand and a step motor powering the hour and minute hands. Both motors are synchronized through integrated circuits to provide accuracy to +/- 5 seconds a month.

“We are proud to expand the Accutron Spaceview assortment powered by electrostatic energy, a world’s first,” says Jeffrey Cohen, president of Citizen Watch America. “The new Spaceview Evolution is a true design progression of the Spaceview 2020 that marked the return of Accutron’s timekeeping legacy.”

It Was Time to Make a Decision. It Was Time to Call Wilkerson.

Except for a few years when he worked as an accountant, Jim Schwartz has always been a jeweler. He grew up in the business and after “counting beans” for a few years, he and his wife, Robin, opened Robin James Jewelers in Cincinnati, Ohio. “We were coming to a stage in our life where we knew we have to make a decision,” says Jim Schwartz. He and Robin wanted to do it right, so they called Wilkerson. The best surprise (besides surpassing sales goals)? “The workers and associations really care about helping us move out own inventory out of the store first. It was very important to us.”
