Soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who is known to love luxury watches, has bought a stake in Chrono24.

The amount of Ronaldo’s investment in the resale platform has not been revealed.

The company, with a valuation of over $1 billion, will benefit not only from the investment but also from Ronaldo’s name recognition as the world’s highest-paid athlete, Business Insider reported.

Ronaldo stated: “As a long-term watch collector and regular user of Chrono24, it’s a pleasure for me to become a shareholder in the company now. Chrono24 unites millions of watch lovers from all around the world to share in their passion, together – that global unification is something I know well and am thrilled to be a part of.”

Chrono24 noted that Ronaldo joins previous investors including Bernard Arnault’s family investment company, Aglae Ventures, General Atlantic, Insight Partners and Sprints Capital – who together led Chrono24’s Series C round in August 2021.

“No one brings passion for luxury watches to the world stage quite like Cristiano,” said Chrono24 CEO Tim Stracke. “He has already solidified his place as one of the greatest athletes in history, and as an investor shows astute knowledge of world-class luxury and technology. That coupled with his authentic, proven passion for watch collecting makes him the perfect teammate as our company moves further into global expansion and our next chapter.”

Choose the Easy Way to Retire with Wilkerson

After 47 years in business, Jim Saylor, owner of Jim Saylor Jewelers in Kapa’a, Hawaii, knew retiring successfully meant holding a going-out-of-business sale. He also knew he needed help to do it right. He chose Wilkerson. “I’ve heard a lot of different names of companies that do this type of thing,” says Saylor. “Wilkerson’s always seems to be in the forefront.” Saylor says the Wilkerson folks really cared about the success of the sale, making the next phase of his life a lot easier. “I’d recommend Wilkerson to anybody contemplating a change,” he says. “They are true experts.”
